[Fall 2017] Meeting#1 The New Statistics
The new statistics refers to recommended practices to ensure research integrity, including pre-specification of studies whenever possible, avoidance of selection and other inappropriate data-analytic practices, shifting from reliance on null-hypothesis significance testing to estimation based on effect sizes, confidence intervals, and the use of meta-analysis. Please see the attached reading that will guide our discussion (Cumming, 2013).
